Brown and blue brown clearThe inheritance of eye color is more complex than previously thought

The mother has brown eyes, the father as well: who is really clear what color eyes the baby. Or is it? Well, if it were that simple. In fact, however, are the inheritance of eye color and have involved at least three disparate genes, whose exact duties that science has still not completely figured out. Really surprising, because in 1907 she published the Brothers Davenport 1-gene model that was initially described apparently quite accurate, resulting in blue, green and brown eyes, your model assumes that there is a single gene that determines our eye color .

Reading Glasses are Optional

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Reading GlassesThe latest statistics reveal that one in ten women between the ages of 40 and 65 use reading glasses. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, then bifocals might be in your future. If you’re like most women, this is not an event to look forward.

In what is considered the “normal aging, the lens of your eye begins to harden as the years pass. As the lens becomes less flexible, harder to concentrate on something. This is a form of farsightedness called presbyopia. This condition is usually corrected with reading glasses or bifocals.

There are several age-related eye diseases that may occur over 40. Most serious eye diseases are pain, and show no symptoms for years. Only a qualified professional can detect and diagnose them before they cause permanent damage.

Glaucoma is one of the most common eye diseases. Glaucoma causes nearly 12% of total blindness in the U.S the increased fluid builds up inside the eyeball, causing pressure. This pressure eventually causes irreversible damage and blindness. (more…)

Cosmetic Contact Lenses

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Contact LensesContact lenses that change your eye color and make a fashion statement are very popular now. Some doctors do not like that I recommend.

Like anything else if you follow the safety guidelines that are ok. I’m not a fan of motorcycles and not a walk, but are safe when used correctly. Wild and crazy contact lenses also agree, but you never see me use them.

The problem is that many people do not use common sense when it comes to bringing the contacts or riding motorcycles. If you get your regular eye exam and make sure your eyes are healthy is ok to wear colored contacts and decoration. Children certainly need to have permission from their parents. These contacts are to be used when they are sleeping. If your eye hurts to wear contact not because something is wrong. All this is common sense but unfortunately people do not use common sense get in trouble all the time.

Blindness can result from improper use of contacts. If you have a red eye contact and then take it out immediately and go see eye doctor. I’ve seen some wild and crazy and contacts that are popular among teenagers and some adults. Online shopping is also popular and I’m not sure all companies follow the guidelines of the FDA.

If common sense and see your eye doctor, you can enjoy the wild and crazy contact lenses.

Eyes
Eyes should be protected from accidents. Can lead to blindness due to injuries to sharp sticks, firecrackers, toy guns and other objects that children can use them as projectiles during their games. Parents should stand firm with their children, explaining the possible consequences of dangerous games. The lenses of the glasses should be shatterproof material, especially if they are for children.

Foreign bodies
The lid is able to close a fifth of a second. It is a reflex action that responds to the smallest stimulus. However, it is inevitable that foreign bodies are lodged in the eye, and there is a right way to remove them without damage. If between the eyelid and eyeball sits a soft object such as a tab, then the affected person close your eye. Take it near a bright light and gently open the eye. If not visible foreign body, have her look up, down, and on either side, while it shifts the lid in the opposite direction. When you locate the foreign body should be removed from the eye with the tip of a clean handkerchief.
