cataractsIt is difficult for a person with good vision to imagine living in a world that is cloudy and dark. Worse than any rainy day in autumn, this murk and fog is a constant. Restricts all facets of life drive to read a recipe. They are no longer the vibrant colors and clear images. People living with cataracts understand this example. The world has lost focus slowly as the white, milky substance exceeds its vision.

All proteins are composed of cataracts in the eye begin to adhere. A cataract starts very small. Imagine wearing a pair of glasses and there is a small smudge in the corner. When the smudge start, it’s only a small unidentified. Over time, the Smudge begins to grow and occupy more space on the surface of the lens. Everything seen through the distorting lens. This is like a waterfall. There are three types of cataracts: nuclear, cortical and sub capsular. They differ on the causes of them, and how they manifest themselves. A nuclear cataract is most often associated with natural aging. It forms the core of the eye, therefore, nuclear cataracts. A cataract that forms in the back of the eye and is most often associated with diabetes or high vision is the sub capsular. Reading Glasses are Optional

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Reading GlassesThe latest statistics reveal that one in ten women between the ages of 40 and 65 use reading glasses. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, then bifocals might be in your future. If you’re like most women, this is not an event to look forward.

In what is considered the “normal aging, the lens of your eye begins to harden as the years pass. As the lens becomes less flexible, harder to concentrate on something. This is a form of farsightedness called presbyopia. This condition is usually corrected with reading glasses or bifocals.

There are several age-related eye diseases that may occur over 40. Most serious eye diseases are pain, and show no symptoms for years. Only a qualified professional can detect and diagnose them before they cause permanent damage.

Glaucoma is one of the most common eye diseases. Glaucoma causes nearly 12% of total blindness in the U.S the increased fluid builds up inside the eyeball, causing pressure. This pressure eventually causes irreversible damage and blindness. (more…)

Cosmetic Contact Lenses

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Contact LensesContact lenses that change your eye color and make a fashion statement are very popular now. Some doctors do not like that I recommend.

Like anything else if you follow the safety guidelines that are ok. I’m not a fan of motorcycles and not a walk, but are safe when used correctly. Wild and crazy contact lenses also agree, but you never see me use them.

The problem is that many people do not use common sense when it comes to bringing the contacts or riding motorcycles. If you get your regular eye exam and make sure your eyes are healthy is ok to wear colored contacts and decoration. Children certainly need to have permission from their parents. These contacts are to be used when they are sleeping. If your eye hurts to wear contact not because something is wrong. All this is common sense but unfortunately people do not use common sense get in trouble all the time.

Blindness can result from improper use of contacts. If you have a red eye contact and then take it out immediately and go see eye doctor. I’ve seen some wild and crazy and contacts that are popular among teenagers and some adults. Online shopping is also popular and I’m not sure all companies follow the guidelines of the FDA.

If common sense and see your eye doctor, you can enjoy the wild and crazy contact lenses.

LasikLaser surgery is used to treat a wide range of myopia, astigmatism and farsightedness. In many cases people with severe cases can be treated.

There are two stages for LASIK eye surgery, the first is a corneal flap in the cornea creates a suction ring is applied to patients with eye. The second stage is reshaping the cornea, this is done fold the flap back and use a laser to remove some corneal tissue, restructuring is allowing you to concentrate properly. When the cornea is reshaped in the right way, works to focus light in the eye and retina, providing clearer vision than before. The flap is replaced to the recovery of the cornea exposed.

The benefits of LASIK include faster visual recovery, faster healing, less risk of haze or scarring, and less comfortable as possible with other treatments. The benefits of LASIK include less risk of infection, as is done in the cornea, while other treatments are implanted within the eye. In addition, patients are usually able to return to normal activities faster with LASIK than any other treatment. (more…)
